Nicole M. Crawford (PhD Candidate, Cohort ’20) will be a co-plenary speaker for the Social Justice Institute Think Tank at Case Western University, Cleveland, OH. October 26, 2024. Crawford ‍will co-present the paper “Beyond the Exhibit: Museums as Foundational Training Grounds for Future Lawyers” at the ICOM-UMAC & Universeum conference in Dresden, Germany. September 26, 2024.‍

Lucas Alan Dietsche (Cohort ‘23) will be presenting “Phonetic Poetics and the Subversion of Schumann’s Poietic Law: A Heideggerian Inquiry through Hugo Ball’s ‘Gadji Beri Bimba’” for the International Heidegger Conference: Thinking-Thanking-Poetizing. September 28, 2024. Dietsche ‍will discuss “Exploring Night Criminology: An Abstract Examination through Poetry and Visual Arts” and “The Need for Zines: A Feminist Convict Criminological Theoretical Perspective on Zines, Poetry, and the Aesthetics of Abolition” at the American Criminology Society Conference in San Francisco, CA. November 13-16, 2024.

‍Shana Dumont Garr (Cohort ’22) and Felix Lloyd (Cohort ’21) will co-chair the two-session panel Beyond Humanism: Exploring Post- and Trans-Human Entanglements at SECAC in Atlanta, GA. October 26, 2024. Dumont Garr will present the paper “Plant Beings: Portraits Signaling Beyond Humanism” at this panel and also at the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts Conference in Dallas, TX, November 7-10, 2024. She will also ‍present "The Land as Companion: Portraits from Black Mountain College" at Reviewing: The Black Mountain College Conference in Asheville, NC. October 25-27, 2024.‍

‍Johanna Guilfoyle (Cohort ’22) will present “The Intersection of Abjection and Écriture Féminine in Jenny Holzer’s Inflammatory Essays” at SECAC in Atlanta, GA. October 26, 2024.‍

Tory Schendel-Vyvoda (Cohort ’23) will present “New Series by Berghahn: Explanations in the Social Sciences” at the 95th Indiana Academy of the Social Sciences Conference. September, 28, 2024. She‍ will be a conference panelist for the session “Navigating Identity: Challenges and Opportunities in Using Terminology for Cultural Groups in Cultural Institutions” at the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) Conference held in Chicago, Illinois, 2024.‍

Vanessa Schuster (Cohort ’22) will present the paper “Becoming Aware: Art and The Sense of Touch” at the 5th Barcelona Conference of Arts, Media and Culture (BAMC 2024). November 12-16, 2024.‍

Colette Standish (PhD candidate, Cohort ’21) will present the paper: “Fused Subjectivity in the Artwork of Carolee Schneemann” at the Scientific Committee of the 5th International Conference on Gender Studies and Sexuality (ICGSS) Paris, France. December 6-8th 2024.

Alumni

Dr. Jean Bundy (PhD 2017) will present “‘Understated’ The Socio-Political and Environmental Across Generations: Diego Rivera and El Anatsui” at the AICA-International Congress in Bucharest, Romania. November 4-9, 2024. 

Dr. Mary Mazurek (PhD 2022) will be part of the panel discussions “Adventures in Live-streaming” and “DEI Work in Audio Engineering Higher Education.” She will additionally serve as an adjudicator for the Student Recording Competition and moderate the DEI Town Hall meeting during the 157th Audio Engineering Society Convention in New York, October 8-10, 2024. Dr. Mazurek will present the paper “Aesthetic Noise as Contemplative Practice” based on a chapter from her forthcoming book Aesthetic Noise: The Philosophy of Intentional Listening on Routledge during the panel The Inmost Light: Analog, Esoteric & Occult Sound Practices in the Art Studio and Classroom at SECAC in Atlanta, GA. October 26, 2024.

‍Dr. Angela M. Mosley (PhD 2023) will present the workshop “The Evolution of Black Input and Output” at the 53rd Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. September 13, 2024. Dr. Mosley will also chair the session Black Cultural Art Performances and present the paper "When Hope and Fear Collide" at the Black Joy AI Summit Conference in Washington, DC. September 14, 2024.

Dr. Jessica (Jeca) Rodríguez-Colón (PhD 2022) will present the video essay “Shedding, Molting, Letting Go; Live Version” for the panel Power of the Performative Lecture at SECAC in Atlanta, GA. October 26, 2024.
